The Family Act of 2011 (HR3522):   A bill has been introduced in Congress that would provide an income tax based credit for qualified infertility treatment expenses. This will mean more affordable treatment options for couples who are trying to build families.

The Family Act of 2011 (s 965, H.R. 3522) bill was introduced to the Senate in May of 2011 by NY Senator Gillibrand and to the House of Representatives in November of 2011 by Representative John Lewis. It will amend the Internal Revenue Code to allow an income-based tax credit for qualified infertility treatment expenses. New Legislation in Tennessee:  May, 2013:  Groundbreaking legislation in support of assisted reproduction and parentage rights has been signed into law in Tennessee.  The bill specifically, uniquely and clearly addresses the rights and responsibilities of all parties to embryo donation and parentage rights of children born as a result of donated embryos.  Read more ...

Anniversary of Cryopreservation

The first reported pregnancy in humans following transfer of a cryopreserved (frozen) embryo occurred in 1983. The first child was born in 1984 (Australia) and 1986 (United States).

 

Anniversary of Egg Donation

Gamete donations are forms of family building that have been available for more than 100 years (sperm donation). The medical intervention of egg donation began in the early 1980’s and the first pregnancy using donated eggs was reported in Australia in 1983. (Source: Steinbock, 2004)
